Volunteer
Camp Quest Chesapeake is staffed and run entirely by adult volunteers (ages 18 and up) who take a week off of work or school to guide, challenge, listen to, chase after, and play outside with a big group of energetic, freethinking kids (and adults!). Most Camp Quest volunteers love the experience so much that they keep coming back year after year.
Please note that all staff positions are unpaid, one-week volunteer positions. Staff must also arrive at camp a day early, on July 21, 2012.
If you are interested in being on staff, please fill out the volunteer staff application below. Senior camp staff review the applications on a rolling basis and accept new staff based on applicants' qualifications and the expected number of campers.
Types of Volunteer Staff Positions
- Cabin Counselors stay at camp for the full session, sleep in the cabins with the kids (and at least one co-counselor), and participate in activities and programs with the campers and other counselors throughout the day. This is the most high-energy position, but also potentially the most rewarding.
- Program Leaders plan, coordinate, and run one or more programs or activities during the week of camp. Some Program Leaders come to camp for a day or half-day, while others double as Cabin Counselors and stay at camp all week. If you're interested in participating in Camp Quest but can't commit to being at camp for the full week, please consider being a Program Leader. We are happy to help you brainstorm and/or refine program activities suitable for the camp setting and the age range of our campers.
- Lifeguards are needed to assist with safety during lake swimming each afternoon. If you are life guard certified or are willing to become certified, please let us know.
