Sarah Menon
Camp Director, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors
Sarah Menon is the Camp Director for Camp Quest Chesapeake. Sarah first joined the staff of Camp Quest in 1997 as a cabin counselor at Camp Quest Ohio. She has since served in a number of staff roles at both Camp Quest Ohio and Camp Quest South Carolina. In 2010, Sarah realized she could spend even more time on camp projects if there was a CQ in her state, so she founded Camp Quest Chesapeake.
Sarah's background includes several years as a freethought activist in her college years. She has also completed the Virginia Master Naturalist program and training in outdoor navigation and wilderness skills during the years she spent as a Wilderness Search and Rescue Volunteer. She enjoys drawing on these experiences to lead camp programs that help kids both explore humanist values and appreciate the outdoors. When not immersed in camp-related activities, Sarah works as a homeland security analyst and spends her free time rock climbing, running, and scuba diving.

Fred Green
Assistant Camp Director, Chair of the Board of Directors
Frederick Green is a Co-Assistant Camp Director for Camp Quest Chesapeake. He joined the Camp Quest Chesapeake Planning Committee in 2010 after seeking a secular summer camp for his two kids. He served as Co-Program Director during Camp Quest Chesapeake's inaugural camp session and is now fully immersed in Camp Quest as Chair of the CQC Board of Directors.
Frederick enjoys occasional hiking, camping, and fishing with his family and has been involved with photography and the freethought community for most of his life. After having travelled to more than 80 countries and all but two of the United States, Frederick now leads a relatively quiet life with his family in Orange County, VA.

Chelsea Pavey
Assistant Camp Director
Chelsea Pavey is a Co-Assistant Camp Director for Camp Quest Chesapeake. She has been involved with Camp Quest since 1997. Chelsea spent several years as a camper at Camp Quest Ohio, moved up to be a counselor there, and now is the Program Director for Camp Quest Ohio. She is thrilled to have been involved in starting a new Camp Quest in Virginia. Chelsea also helped form Camp Quest South Carolina and served as an Assistant Camp Director there. She is excited to see more children grow up with Camp Quest as she did.
During the part of the year that Chelsea is not at a Camp Quest, she attends Georgia State majoring in Managerial Science and Business Economics, while working in Downtown Atlanta. She has lived in Atlanta her whole life and spends her free time exploring the area, reading and following Atlanta sports.

Mary Bellamy
Registrar, Treasurer
When Mary isn't working to help establish the kind of community support for humanists, atheists and freethinkers that once was found only within church communities, she is reading, playing with her dog, or volunteering at a homework help center for kids. She is super excited to be a part of Camp Quest Chesapeake and loves having her mind stretched as she mingles with all of the very smart, creative and fun people who are part of the Camp Quest Chesapeake community.

Richard Keller
Operations Manager
Richard Keller started gaining an appreciation for camp at age 10, attending a summer camp in the Pocono mountains for 3 seasons and later returning to staff their kitchen for two more summers in his teen years.
Though his careers and interests have included Public School Teacher, aircraft, robotics, radios, electronics, computers, reptiles, security, music and cooking to name just a few, being part of a camp has always been of high importance to him and he feels that all kids should get an opportunity to attend camp, especially one where they are encouraged to ask the very important questions “How?” and “Why?”. Often working behind the scenes setting equipment up, sorting out the loose ends and generally facilitating summer camp fun, Rich is the logistics go-to person who does the little things that help make the big things happen.

Azure Hansen
Program Director
Azure Hansen is the Program Director for Camp Quest Chesapeake. Azure grew up in rural upstate New York and attended Camp Quest Ohio in 1997 & 1998 with her sister. Guess who her cabin counselor was in 1998? Sarah Menon, our Camp Director. Sarah loved having Azure in her cabin because Azure is not afraid of spiders! We love having Azure on the program planning committee because she is bursting with very, very cool ideas.
After her days at Camp Quest Ohio, Azure graduated from Stony Brook University where she was involved in science outreach programs. She is currently working on her PhD in experimental physics at the University of Rochester and is excited to be helping campers have the amazing CQ experience she once had, and to be a part of the CQ community again.

Penny Green
Camp Nurse
Penny Green is the Camp Nurse for Camp Quest Chesapeake. A nurse for 19 years, Penny is originally from South Dakota (where Mount Rushmore is) and she loves the mountains and plains. As a nurse Penny has worked in all areas from infants with disabilities to geriatric patients. Along with travel and spending time with her children she enjoys cake decorating, writing, horseback riding, swimming, and nature. She also loves teaching children how to stay healthy and how to treat each other with the respect that they all deserve.

Beth Stetzler
Secretary of the Board
When Sarah Menon started looking for people to share her dream of starting a camp for children of freethinking families in the Mid-Atlantic area, Beth Stetzler was one of the first to answer the call. Beth loves kids and has honed her skills in non-profit management as the treasurer of the Washington Area Secular Humanists (WASH). She joined the Board of Camp Quest Chesapeake in Spring 2010 and cheerfully accepted the challenge of being CQC’s first Treasurer. Beth now serves as CQC's Secretary.
Beth has a B.S. in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Pittsburgh and a M.S. in Applied Physics from Johns Hopkins University. She loves stargazing and she helps organize and run astronomy events for CQC's camp sessions.
